COMMENDATION FROM PRESIDENT, PERGAS

ADVISE LEADS TO "KHAIRA UMMAH"

All praises to Allah the Lord of the worlds. Salawat and salutation to our great prophet Muhammad SAW and his family as well as companions. 

Life is like a wheel turning every second with the ups and downs ever changing places like a game designed for all to play, the turning seems unstoppable like big tidal waves in the ocean of life. In braving these challenges, advice and guidance especially from among the Ulamas and theologians is badly needed to continue the struggle in achieving the goals towards a community of excellence. This is imperative as the Ulamas are the heirs of the prophets in continuing the dakwah to lead the community and the ummah.  

From amongst the members of the community are our brothers in the Prison Muslim Fellowship, PMF. Pergas involvement in PMF representing the roles of the Ulamas is the continuation of the trust and responsibilities decreed by our great Prophet Muhamamd SAW in one of his Hadith narrated from Abu Ruqaiyah Tamiim Bin ‘Aus Ad-Daari r.a.: 

اَلدِّيْنُ النَّصِـيْحَةُ، قُلْنـَا لِمَنْ ؟ قَالَ : ِللهِ وَلِكِتَـابِهِ وَلِرَسُـوْلِهِ وَِلأَئِمَّـةِ اْلمُسْـلِمِيْنَ وَعَامَّتِـهِمْ 

"Religion is nasihah(advise)." We said: "To whom?" The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said: "To Allah and His Book, and His messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk."

Effective advice espoused by the bridge strengthening the ukhuwwah between Pergas and PMF equipped with solid little steps of commitments would definitely benefit all Singaporean muslims. However, all of us as subjects of The Almighty have been knighted with the sound minds and hearts to digest the trials and tribulations of life. As each of us becomes wiser and able to understand life’s meaning and purpose, we will increasingly able to strategise wiser action plans in our quest to survive the hurricane of mismanagement of life. 

Today, with the advancement of science, we are thankful to embrace and reap the technological benefits one of which is the world of cyberspace allowing the world population to come together with just one click of the mouse.

Notwithstanding the existence of some negative elements, we cannot deny the positive spectrum of communication enhancing the outreach possibilities thorughout the muslim world. The wise use of this technology as a preaching means in spreading the wings of Islam encompasses every corners of the world. This knowledge and skills would be vital to challenge the negative elements that technology brings along. 

Pergas welcomes the birth of PMF website, designed and built by PMF themselves as a medium of communication especially between PMF and the local muslim community. This website also defines PMF's serious desire in establishing strong relationship with Pergas and the rest of the members of the community. This technological mode would steer the community into the realms of contemporary world we live today and benefit every segment of the society. 

I take this opportunity on behalf of Pergas to present bouquets of commendations to PMF with all their entrepreneural spirit and effort in rebuilding the lives of those who have once made wrong choices in life with a burning desire to stand up once again with pride and dignity.

We pray that this perseverance so urgently needed is bestowed by The Almighty in PMF’s struggle in overcoming her challenges in earning the respect, seen and accepted in the beautiful eyes of the world, insyaa Allah.
